Mermet Springs sinks fire truck
A fire truck formerly used by the Quincy, Ill. fire department rolls into Mermet Springs, a scuba diving quarry between Vienna and Metropolis in southern Illinois, on Saturday, May 10, 2008. The 15,000-lb. truck was moved across the lake and sunk at a 50-foot depth, near other diving attractions including a Boeing 727 used in the movie “U.S. Marshals.”

This is so sad how could you desicrate a fire truck I guess you must not have the heart for firefighting like I do I have my fire truck out back and I have only drove it once I will never get rid of it I wish I could have saved this truck also

Yeah, I’m sure it was great in it’s day.. But, it’s over. It’ll be a great thing for SCUBA divers to explore. Out here on the coast they sink vintage military vessels. They become a home for many species of underwater life and make for great places to dive.
